An Inconvenient Truth

We had the opportunity of watching this film (some of us for the second time) this week at the Lion's Head School. It was as moving and stimulating the second time as the first. One of the most encouraging things was the number, over 100 I think, who came out to watch and participate in the lively discussion afterward facilitated by Shane Jolley.
Even the Globe and Mail included a whole extra section yesterday on climate change recognizing the voluntary moves by many industries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions but their frustration at operating in a regulations vaccuum. Without federal government regulations it is nearly impossible for industry to predict the necessary degree and timetable of industry-wide compliance and carbon exchange possibilities.
Our present federal government by its hollow proposed 'clean air act' is actually placing barriers to progress in this crisis thereby making it a significant and shameful part of the problem rather than even recognizing its existence

HOT ISSUES @ bpeg.ca

Do you have an environmental concern that you would like to share and get some feed back on? Are you worried about a new quarry proposal or a shoreline development. Is your concern pesticide use or the storage of nuclear waste at Kincardine? Do you want to start a discussion on our recycling and waste disposal system, or on water quality and septic waste? Maybe your concern is the effects of climate change on our region. Whether your issue is local, regional, or more global in scope, let the community know what you are concerned about. Post your HOT ISSUE!... Please note - This is a public blog. The Bruce Peninsula Environment Group does not monitor this blog and assumes no responsibility for its content.
